Potatoes in a Tire :)
Have been talking to lots of people about gardens lately. Love listening to others' ideas of what grows well here and there. Hubby told me about a family that grows his potatoes in tire stacks... Lots of harvest, vertical gardening, and recycling.. SOLD... not to mention lots of FREE tires for the picking. Found some other ideas on Pinterest also, for vertical potatoes with chicken wire, if this doesn't work, will try that next year...
Well let's see if this really works.
Next step is to keep adding tires and dirt after these grow up a bit more, will be adding another tire soon I think...

Looking good! Myrtice had a new method of growing potatoes, I will have to tell you about it, she is experimenting in the garden.
ReplyDeleteUpdate on the potato tire experiment... this year did not go well. Thinking I need to move the tires to a sunnier location and make sure the weeds stay further away. We got a small strainer full of potatoes :( The vines looked very happy though. Some more thoughts on next years try; will be to stuff the tires with straw as well as dirt. It is all a learning experience...
